Light control for increased fish welfare

Aurora SUBLed Combi 1350 is a dimmable underwater light with a unique combination of blue, green and ultra violet LED light in one unit.

With the help of blue and green LED lights, maturation can be postponed whenever necessary. In addition, white light is used to create maximum contrast between the fish and pellets during feeding. UV lights are phased in when it becomes necessary to keep the fish in deeper waters to e.g. reduce lice pressure without interfering with the fish’s internal biological processes.

The lamps are suspended at approx. 7 – 10 meters’ deep and may be used throughout the entire sea phase. It is also possible to remote control the lamps using AKVA group’s digital network, AKVAconnect.

Own or rent?
If you do not wish to buy the lamps, you are welcome to rent the equipment you need through AKVA group’s rental scheme. Off season, AKVA group can store and maintain the lamps at its unique “Light hotel”, making sure they’re in perfect condition for a new season.

Improved fish welfare and more stable environmental conditions also gives reduced lice pressure. So far, experiences show that the fish also stays around the feeding points during daytime. In combination with anti-maturation light or UV light, the fish will be kept at the same stable level as the underwater feeder. This unique combination thus enables underwater feeding through a large portion of the production cycle with very good growth, reduced lice pressure and improved fish welfare as a result.

AKVA underwater feeder
AKVA group’s underwater feeding system feeds the fish at approx. 8 to 4 meters’ deep, spreading the feed with the aid of a spreading unit, measuring 17 meters in diameter and featuring 6 – 12 feeding units, ensuring the feed is distributed in a good and efficient way. Underwater feeders have been tested with several fish farming companies, proving the fish have improved growth and fish welfare.
