Norwegian apparel maker Protex invests in Estonia

Protex, a Norwegian clothing manufacturing company, which is operational in Estonia since 1994, has invested around € 200,000 in the Baltic country in 2011.

A part of this investment constituted proceeds for acquiring the last production units of the Tallinn-based textile firm Marat, which next to Kreenholm, used to be the second biggest manufacturer of textile consumer products during the Soviet era.

In addition to this, Protex, which engages in production of knitwear, sportswear and workwear, also unveiled its new head office in Estonia’s Pärnu, employing 14 administrative staff, taking the total staff engaged by the company in Pärnu to 145.

Presently Protex is hunting for new premises in Tallinn, and foresees its staff strength there reaching 45 in January 2012 and around 100 by close of the first half of the next year.

Protex, which supplies clothing to military and rescue workers, hotels, Nordic police and other firms that need profile clothing, is aiming to achieve a 30 percent year-on-year growth in 2012.
